Since the founding of Maker’s Mark in 1953, Star Hill Farm's natural water source and nutrient-rich limestone soil have been responsible for creating its distinctive flavor and unique qualities. Now, the world's largest bourbon distillery with B Corp Certification and the first with Regenified certification, sees the farm as a progressive entity, critical to raising awareness and encouraging experimentation for the future of sustainable farming practices, not only for Maker’s Mark but across the industry.
— Rob Samuels — 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the Maker’s Mark founders“This is our opportunity to do something very, very different”
The brand world for Star Hill Farm Whisky captures key characteristics in a sense of place, celebrating visual contrast between the organic forms and textures of nature, balanced with the technical precision of engineering and human innovation. Wheat is captured in its natural form through editorial farm imagery and used as a raw material for both recycled packaging and contemporary art installations.
The annual release of Star Hill Farm Whisky will be used as a medium to challenge agricultural practices and pioneer change. Each product is completely unique; a seasonal exploration of the varying effects of different grains, weather patterns, soil treatments, and plot locations. A direct expression of nature’s inputs. These standards drove the creation of a global Estate Whisky Alliance Member program. The Star Hill Farm Whisky marks a timely shift for the industry, from what a brand produces to a future that also includes a focus on the importance of how and why.
