Tell us a bit about you…

I’m an Australian based photographer living on Gadigal Country in Sydney. I am a plant lover, gardener and hiker.

What’s something inspiring you’ve seen this week?

Australia's oldest photography collective Oculi put on a slide night where 6 photographers presented projects or books they were working on. There were some really impactful documentary series that I found particularly moving and motivating and of course a good industry gossip with photographer pals.

How do you prepare before a job? Tell us about the process for Star Hill Farm.

Research is always a great place to start, I like to know how the project started or where it came from so I can take the references and creative direction to imagine how I can make it my own and visualize where it needs to land. Also being from Australia, I spent a bit of time looking at pictures of the location and geography to try and understand the colours, tones and light in the landscape.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve been asked to photograph?

I was working for a magazine and was told  to photograph an editorial of a robotics workshop. The reality was a garage with a bunch of very kooky people making R2-D2 replicas.

Best advice for someone who wants to become a photographer or something you wish you knew when just starting out?

You do not need to know every piece of equipment, lighting gear or type of camera to be a successful photographer. What is more important is that you shoot persistently and consistently enough to develop a strong individual style, trust your instincts and back yourself.

Something you cannot live without?

Access to nature and sunshine.

Last emoji you used?

A non sarcastic thumbs up.

Describe your work in three words.

Vibrant, emotive, nostalgic.

What would you be doing if you weren't a photographer?

Growing dahlias on a farm in the country.

Describe your perfect day off.

A bush walk to a waterhole with friends, my camera and a few rolls of film.

Finish this sentence, you might not believe this but…
I grew up on a hippie commune.

Go-to song when you’re working.
Body Corp - Efforts (The perfect blend of relaxing and motivating).
